The Forsaken
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
The Forsaken is a medieval fantasy visual novel with romances and adventures. This is only the demo, as well as the prologue. I would like to make this an episodic game if I'm able and depending on the feedback this gets.
You have lived your whole life in the mountains among the Forsaken to learn about your unique powers in peace , away from everything and everyone. You felt at home there, content with your quest for knowledge and wisdom, living among your peers. However, one year something shifted. Tensions started growing, people changed and you felt something ominous was settling in. After years of feeling more and more oppressed, you realized you didn't feel at home anymore. One night you decide to escape, to see what's beyond these mountains. But your freedom will be short lived, as you realise you can't really flee from who you are.
Embark on a journey as a powerful Elf mage! Where will your new path lead you? Will you reveal the mystery that lies within the mountains? Will you find romance along the way?
The characters below don't appear in the demo, but you'll meet them soon in the first chapter.
This demo contains:
- Different choices of actions/dialogue.
- 3 different characters (with sprites, in addition to the main character).
- Around 10 000 words, which is about 30-40 minutes of gameplay.
- CGs for characters / actions
- 8 different backgrounds (+ 3 in the intro)

I just want to add that I'm not a native English speaker, nor was my friend who graciously agreed to test the demo and advise me on my little project. If you see any mistakes don't hesitate to point them out, I'll correct them as soon as I can.
Furthermore, I welcome feedback and criticism as long as it's constructive (and I really encourage you to express your opinion).
Thank you for taking an interest in my demo, and thank you even more if you download it!

hey, i hope you are doing well!! i hope i'm not bothering you but once again, is progress still being made? no pressure, just interested in your game
Hi! I am still making progress even if it's been difficult to find the time. I hope I'll be able to complete the next chapter soon. Thank you so much for your patience. I really appreciate that you are still interested and I'm really sorry for the long wait.
alright, it's alright, take the time you need !! Hope you are doing well
is this still being worked on?
Yes, I'm still actively working on it and making progress regularly!
I played this on a friend's computer some time back and I have been looking for it ever since, found it now <3 I love it!
I loved the demo! Everything I would want to say has already been said by hushibe. Looking forward to the full game. Just one question, will the whole game be available for free or commercial?
Thank you I'm glad you like it!
The game will stay free! I will release it by chapters since it's a bit easier for me for now. I might activate donations at some point but that'll just be optional :)
The world-building sure catches my interest, who don't like pacifist MC with high magic power and conspiracy?
I will stay tune for this ;)
Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it! I'm glad you're interested in the story, and I hope you'll like what's coming next! :)
Just wondering if there's a devblog or update website we can read as we wait?
Hi!
I'm sorry I haven't posted more updates, I will be posting a detailed devlog soon. I have made quite a few changes and it took more time than I thought. Thank you for your patience and your interest in the game, I'll keep you updated very soon!
The game looks interesting so far! On the technical side, the GUI is very nice, I love the music and sound - very atmospheric; both the art style and the character designs are eye-catching and beautiful.
I've enjoyed the brief introduction to the world at the beginning of the game, informative enough to settle you in the story but not so long you end up tired of the lore within first few minutes. I'm interested to see where the story goes :) I don't know what it is about 'jerk' characters that interests me the most but I like Arthmael already, although I can't wait to meet the rest of LIs (so happy to see an NB character on the list!)
As far as issues go, I've spotted a misspelling (Cadice says helping the people was her 'responsability' instead of 'responsibility') ; and one grammar mistake (first interrogation, 'What did you planned to do?' should be 'What did you plan to do') while reading the game. Also on one occasion the main character sprite seems to flicker (in the room at the end after the 'Maybe I've been too naive, too blind' line), I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but it felt a bit off. I'm also pretty sure I caught another misspelled word but for the life of me I could not find it again, so that might have just been me being too tired after work to function ^^''
Thank you for your constructive review, It really helps a lot!
I'm glad you enjoyed the demo and Arthmael :')
Thank you for pointing out these mistakes I appreciate it. I will correct everything as soon as possible! Regarding the sprite flickering I did notice that, it's not intentional, I don't know what's causing that yet, but I will find out and update the file.
Hello!
Really liked the game so far! The story, the art, the music - everything's great!
Pretty sure I know already who will be my MC's LI (Virgile) but looking forward to meet those other characteres as well.
If you don't mind me asking, how many chapters are you planning to have?
Anyways, you did a great job! 💜
Can't wait to see more from you.
Hi! Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it, I'm glad you enjoyed the demo (and Virgile)!
I can't really give you and answer for the number of chapters yet, I still have to figure this out. I will post an update once I have decided how the game will be.
Thank you again, it means a lot! :)
